The name Eames is very closely associated with designer furniture. Charles and Ray Eames are certainly the most prolific designer couple, offering modern, colourful furniture with very geometric looks.
Charles and Ray Eames made it a point of honour to innovate both in terms of materials (some derived from aeronautics) and in terms of design. Even today, their products are classics of designer furniture. The Eames RAR armchair, reissued by Vitra with armrests, makes it possible to create a relaxation area in a room. The shells with organic lines offer a high level of comfort. These armchairs have a four-legged steel-wire chrome frame with cross-bracing and a rocker in stained maple.
This seat has come through the 20th century without ageing a day. In addition, this rocking chair is extremely sturdy thanks to its chrome steel uprights.
The Aluminium Group armchair is one of the major furniture creations of the 20th century. The Eames had the idea of placing a taut fabric or leather panel between two lateral metal uprights instead of the traditional seat shell. The upholstery is fixed and tensioned on the lateral aluminium profiles, thus becoming a load-bearing element of the structure.
