Ronan and Erwan, two brothers united by their passion for design, are internationally recognized talents and tireless researchers with exacting standards. Since 1999, the two men have worked in constant dialogue to master aesthetics in pursuit of subtle delicacy.
As early as 1997, they were noticed by Giulio Cappellini during the presentation of the Disintegrated Kitchen at the Paris Furniture Fair. This nomadic and conceptual “self-sufficient” equipment marked the starting point for new collaborations for the creative duo formed by the Bouroullecs. This was followed by the creation of the Lit Clos (2000) and the Spring Chair for Cappellini. That same year, Issey Miyake invited them to design a new showroom space for his “Apoc” collection in Paris. From that time on, the two brothers met numerous personalities from the world of fashion and design, including Rolf Fehlbaum, the president of the Italian publishing house Vitra. Many projects were born, such as the ultra-cocoon Alcove sofa, the Slow Chair, the Worknest, the Vegetal Chair ideal for outdoor use, and the Oiseau in the world of decor.
The furniture they invent often has the particularity of creating its own space, like the Alcove sofa, which forms a true cocoon within the interior itself. The Disintegrated Kitchen and the Lit Clos follow the same concept: occupying space with a modular volume that itself becomes another space. The talent of these two minds is to blend all arts to develop their inventive objects; drawing is very often the starting point, followed by photography, video, and more.
