A Journey Between Architecture and Product Design
After studying architecture at the Politecnico de Madrid to become an architect, Patricia Urquiola continued her education by focusing on design, which she studied at the Polytechnic School of Milan. There she obtained her thesis under the supervision of Achille Castiglioni, one of the great names in Italian design. This marked the beginning of many other collaborations with major figures in Italian design, notably Vico Magistretti and Maddalena De Padova.
As a result of this diverse training, Patricia Urquiola has distinguished herself not only in product design but also in large-scale architectural projects. Notable examples include the Il Sereno hotel on Lake Como, the Room Mate Giulia Hotel in Milan, and the spa at the Four Seasons Hotel, also in Milan.
