Take a seat in the Cassina Dudet chair

  • Design

What if you added a touch of roundness to your interior? A roundness that makes you want to settle in comfortably, as if enveloped and protected? This is what the Cassina Dudet chair offers you. A designer dining chair that will undoubtedly catch your guests’ eye and add strong character to your decor, to your room. We invite you to explore the world of its designer, Patricia Urquiola.

Introducing the Cassina Dudet Chair

The Cassina Dudet chair is undoubtedly an icon in the world of design chairs, its form having become so essential, a true benchmark. A very original shape for a chair, strongly inspired by 70s design but perfectly suited for a contemporary style.

This is what makes the Cassina Dudet chair so versatile; regardless of your dining room’s decor style, regardless of your dining table’s material, you can perfectly pair it without disrupting visual harmony. Thus, whether your dining table is made of wood, glass, or metal, a Cassina Dudet chair will find its place. Of course, choose according to color.

But if we look a little closer at this Cassina Dudet chair, we notice that its architecture is defined by only three individual upholstered elements: a seat cushion, and two tubes that fluidly outline its legs, armrests, and backrest in a continuous line. This is what gives it its lightness.

Both sophisticated, refined, and simple, this Dudet chair is anything but indifferent. If we delve into the details of the Cassina Dudet chair, we find that its steel structure features foam padding made of biopolymers obtained from natural resources. This padding has, of course, been patented. Thus, for all lovers of natural products, or those who wish to furnish their home with natural products and live in an environmentally friendly space, the Cassina Dudet chair is perfect.

The Cassina Dudet Chair, a creation by Patricia Urquiola

We can thank the Spanish-born designer and architect, Patricia Urquiola, for conceiving and designing this Dudet chair for Cassina. Patricia Urquiola is today considered one of the most brilliant and emblematic female figures in contemporary design. Proof of this lies in her collaborations with numerous publishing houses, such as with Kartell, for whom she designed the T-Table range of coffee tables in three different heights, whose surfaces composed of voids and solids evoke embroidery, or the Klara armchair for Moroso, made of light wood with a caned backrest. We could also mention the Husk seating for B&B Italia.

After studying architecture and design at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and then at the Politecnico di Milano, the designer founded Patricia Urquiola Studio with Alberto Zontone in 2001, focusing on product design, architecture, artistic direction, and strategic consulting.

Her philosophy is based on a fundamental principle, which she inherited from Achille Castiglioni, with whom she began her career: to conceive spaces or objects in relation to people. But one of her driving forces is to create links between craftsmanship and industrial research, heritage, and innovation and technology. Furthermore, concerned about the environment, Patricia Urquiola encourages her partners to recycle materials that were once waste.
